Pattern is from Michaels Loops & Threads yarn, titled "Friendship Shawl." My SIL was diagnosed with colon cancer and undergoing chemo. I had made this shawl before and immediately thought it would be nice for her to wear when getting chemo. I call it the "comfort shawl" and told her when she needs a hug or just gets chilly to wrap this around and feel the hugs. She is going to send me a picture of her wearing it at chemo next week. Thanks for looking.

What a wonderful thought, a hug anytime needed.

A beautiful lace, exquisitely knit and finished.

Thanks, Lana. Made it with a heavy heart but I knew she would really appreciate it. She loved the thought of getting "hugs" whenever she wanted too.

great pattern! And a lot of endurance to finish but it was worth it!

Thanks, it really wasn't that difficult. I have gotten so I enjoy doing lace patterns. Of course I was rushing to get it finished and in the mail to my SIL so she could have the benefit of it while going through chemo.

Thank you, she does love it. This is my sister-in-law and we live 7 hours from her so it was all I could think of to do since I am not there to help her.

Nice shawl. I just looked at the close up of the pattern stitch in the other thread. Lovely color too.

Thanks! I liked working the pattern too. She just sent me a picture of her wearing it at her chemo session yesterday, said all the nurses thought she looked quite stylish!

Hi!
that is good news. She got the gift, understood the intention, has some comfort in it and can tell the story because people ask about it - that means she can talk about her situation with the extra topic of someone thinking of her so much that this beautiful gift was made and send and has a purpose and makes life so much better and it is not all bad. This is a true gift of comfort!

Thank you! She really did understand and love the intention behind it. She did not know I was making it but during our conversations before she got it, she said how cold it always is in the chemo room and she refused to wrap up in their blankets. Not sure why but her way of dealing with the situation, not being like everyone else. When she got the shawl it was just the ticket as far as she was concerned, be warm, feel love and hugs, but in her own way.
