Hi,
I am attempting to make a baby cardigan.
It tells me to:
'Rib 4 *inc. in next st., rib 6, rep. from * to last 5 sts., inc. in next st., rib 4. (74sts)'
I have absolutely no idea what this means and was wondering if someone could help me out?
Looking on the internet it seemed like the rib stitch was a knit purl stitch but to me, the pattern isn't saying that.

The 'rib 4' and 'rib 6' means to work that many stitches in the rib pattern. The 'inc in next stitch' is to do a kfb. So you work 4 sts in the rib pattern, kfb, work 6 in the rib, kfb rib 6 stitches, etc. ending with 4 sts in the ribbing. Your pattern should earlier have set up whether this is a k, p or k2 p2 or some other ribbing.
