My name is Jan and I am just learning how to knit, I have done my casting and the first row of sts, the last st is real loose and not sure if this is correct, here are some pics hopefully they are clear enough to show what I am talking about, I have tried tuging on the yarn and that does nothing.

If you knit the next row, it will tighten that loop up as it makes the next stitch that starts the next row.

That stitch is only attached on one side, unlike the other ones in the row. Knit the first few stitches of the next row a bit tightly and you'll be good to go.

That's normal, it'll look better after you knit a couple more rows.

Thanks for the info. I will just keep practicing until I can get a grip on it, then I'll move on to the pearl stch.

On the next row if you slip the first stitch to you right hand needle that will tighten the stitch also.
