I am making a hat and the pattern says " work 1 rnd even in St st" My daughter who is an experienced knitter says that she can't remember why it's telling me to work the rounds 'even' and I have no idea what that means!
Anybody?

To 'work even' usually comes after an inc or dec and means to do that many rounds/rows without incs/decs. You keep the stitch number 'even', same as it was. This is probably the plain knit round after/between dec rounds.
