I'm trying to figure it out and I've gotten this far:

stockinette 14 across for 2-3 rows
(rs) k1 border *c1f, then I'm not sure (the hold part), c1b* k1 border
(ws) p1 border *k1, p1, the hole - some kind of double yo maybe, p1, k1* p1 border
(rs)k1 border *p1, k1, the hole - some kind of double yo maybe, k1, p1*
stockinette 14 across for 2-3 rows

Any help would be very appreciated!

Actually, it looks like the border stitch is slipped and left unknit every other row.

Sometimes the first stitch is slipped on every row, maybe that's what you see. It would help to see a picture of what you're trying to recreate, then we could help you identify it.

Oh... I thought I had posted the photo!

I think I've got it:

k across
p across
k across
p across
*p1, k2tog, ssk, p1*
*k1, p1, yo, p1 k1* yf, sl
*p1, k1, kfb, k1, p1*
*c1f, p2, c1b*

Start over

With a sl stitch border.

Something like that. I think the YO is yo twice, then work 3 sts in it.

Hmm, I was wondering if it was 3 sts in the yo, but I don't see where the third st would go.

In the red/blue scarf you can easily see 3 sts in the hole, and there may be a double dec or 2 to keep the st number from increasing. The brown scarf is upside down, so it's harder to see the sts unless I save the pic to my computer then open in and rotate 180.

I did that yesterday - flipped it and enlarged it and tried to trace the stitches! I'll take another look tonight and see where that third stitch goes off to.
