I recently shared 2 stranded animal chullos and this is the 3rd in the series. This one is for my little granddaughter who will be 4 next winter. I wanted it to fall over on the top like Mom's hat, but it ended up sticking straight up instead. A look a 4 year old can pull off quite well, luckily. :)

And here it is worn by my DGD.

Hi Merigold, What a gorgeous knitted hat! It's perfectly beautiful work and makes a great addition to your trio of hats. Your granddaughter is lovely and I wish her many happy times wearing her chula.

Hahah! That is adorable, but totally not what I expected when I read the subject line! I read it as ~stranded as in he's lost somewhere w/o a ride~ kind of thing. I didn't sleep well last night is my only excuse. It's a great hat though, I love it!

Gorgeous knitting! And what an adorable DGD! Wonder why the hat doesn't flop over like the bigger one.

Thanks.

Wonder why the hat doesn't flop over like the bigger one. I was trying to scale it down, but I think the problem is that scaling things down doesn't always work the way you might think it should. I think I needed it to be even longer on top to flop over. Maybe its a bit like scaled down people, the proportions are not the same as with grown up people, heads are bigger, arms are shorter, etc. :)

A longer tassel might make it flop over more, but it looks super cute the way it is and I'm not sure a tassle is a good idea for a kid anyway.

Possibly a longer tassel would do it. I was trying to avoid things hanging from the kids hats too much, that is part of the reason I didn't put the common ties or whatever they are that they usually have hanging from the ends of the ear flaps.
