View Full Version : Help making bobble from my pattern

I am working on a hat pattern ("orchids and fairy lights") and am having problems with the bobble stitch instructions. I have never done a bobble. Here is what my pattern says:

"knit into front and back and front of the stitch, turn. purl 3, turn. k1, k2tog and pass the k stitch over"

I know how to k1, k2 tog and purl. I am struggling with the beginning part ("knit into front and back and front of stitch") and cannot find a video to show me.

Any help would be greatly appreciated and seeing as I'm a visual learner a video would be awesome. Thanks!

That's similar to the kfb shown on the Increases page; knit into the front and back of the same st, then into the front of it again.

typically, a stitch is knitted (for a right-handed knitter) by passing the right hand needle from left to right on the side facing the knitter. to knit through the back, one passes the right hand needle from right to left on the side facing away from the knitter. To knit into the front - back - front, one would pass the right hand needle from left to right in front of the work, from right to left through the same loop behind the work, then from left to right through the same loop in front of the work again.

See if this video (http://www.knittingdaily.com/blogs/daily/archive/2011/04/27/bumbling-around-with-bobbles.aspx) helps. It's a slightly different bobble but the result will be the same.
