Was wondering if any one has tried to take 2 different afghan patterns and combined them??? I like both of these but I dont like just an all Broken Rib pattern even though it would be different shades of brown's and then on the next one I don't like the idea of having a bunch of squeare to sew together. The 2 patterns I plan on trying to combine are:

Sure, you should be able to combine the two. Make sure you check the gauge in pattern so that the various patterns will work together. I don't see why you can't do the second pattern (multiple squares) the same way the first pattern is knit (strips of squares). That would mean fewer squares to sew together.

Use intarsia and you won't have to sew any squares together.

Ok I think I'll try just going with the pattern from redheart only until I get more comfortable knitting.:knitting:
