I'm working off a chart and the instruction reads as follows:
1. RS Row: K to last 2 sts, inc 1 st in next st, K1

2. WS row: Inc 1 st in first st, p to end of row

Does No. 1 mean I knit up to 2 last sts and increase in the middle of the last 2 stitches? :shrug: :??

No 2 is telling me to increase purlwise, how do I do that?

The instructions are really telling you to increase in the next to last stitch and because of the next row increase, I would do a knit front and back on that next to last st. For the next row, you could purl front and back (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sPJCawekDfY) into the first stitch. It's a little awkward, but it'll work.

Increasing IN a stitch is a kfb or a pfb. You can use a m1, but it would be done between the end stitch and the one next to it. A m1 on a purl row is just the same as m1 on a knit row but you purl into it instead of knit into the lifted strand.
