hi there!
I'm knitting a baby bonnet and can't figure out the pattern.. the pattern is lanett baby book 0612, no. 3 if maybe you have it..

the pattern reads like so:

"cast on 160 sts. knit 5 rows back and forth for frill edging. next row: k2tog until sts = 80. work st st for 7.5 cm = edging 2 at front. Turn work with WS to RS. cont with St st for 1cm and inc 9 sts evenly spaced."

i think i can prolly figure out the "1cm and inc 9 sts evenly spaced" because i've had to do that before for the sleeves of the sweater, but i cant figure out the "turn work with WS to RS"..

any help would be much appreciated! thanks!

Would it make sense that at this point you start working in reverse stockinette? It would if there is a fold in the pattern or the purl side becomes the outside.:think: A hem?

Is there a name for the pattern or a link to a picture?

Well, it's a ruffle, which sounds like it's in garter then switches to stockinette stitch. I guess they figure after you knit 5 rows you've finished with the 'RS' but they want the stockinette to be the RS so it doesn't really matter anyway.

I think just knit 5 rows, then the next row starts the RS of the stockinette for one inch, then the incs.

@suzeeq

it is a ruffle, but its worked knit a row, purl a row.. and i assume i'm working on the top and sides of the bonnet, from the back to the front (towards the baby's face) because there is the ruffle, and later you fold the front down and sew to the wrong side.. i think it is being worked from back to front, but i cant figure out what gets turned if it is so..

No, what you posted was knit 5 rows which would be garter stitch. Oh, but then you do one more and dec. I think if you just turn and knit the row after the dec row, then purl for the stockinette it'll work out fine.
