I apologize if this is the wrong forum. >__<

I was wondering if someone had any ideas on how to modify this pattern (below) into full mittens?

I want to knit them for a friend for Christmas and she wanted mittens, not fingerless. I fell in love with this pattern, but its fingerless. : \ So I'm hoping to figure this out before I begin knitting. Fingers crossed! xD

You could continue the pattern instead of switching to ribbing and then about an inch or so from the desired length, begin decreases like the finishing used on these (http://www.knittingonthenet.com/patterns/kidsmittens.htm) mittens. It is a very good looking pattern and should make great mittens. No wonder your fell in love with it.

The only problem I can foresee changing these into mittens is keeping the pattern continuous as you increase/decrease. But perhaps you will have already had some experience on how to increase and decrease in pattern before you get to the mitt part.

I would recommend swatching out a few increase and decrease rows in pattern (or, rather, in patterns plural) AND I would suggest charting out beforehand how many times you will continue each pattern repeat (if you plan to do so).

Great choice of mittens. I hope your venture is a successful (and fun) one!

Wow, that was a fast response! I didn't expect it to be such a simple fix. Silly me. x ) This should work out perfect. Thank you thank you for your help! ^__^

I was wondering about that as well, but in the worst-case scenario I could just leave the stitch pattern out towards the end and knit the decrease part in stockinette stitch. I'll try swatching some pattern decreases and charting it like you said and see how it goes.
Thank you so much for your help! : )
