I'm looking to knit a few gun socks for my boyfriend. When I was talking to my dad the other day about his socks he bought from Cabela's, he mentioned the material used for the sock is a cotton/silicone blend.
I know silicone wicks away moisture, and that's definitely important, because my boyfriend collects antique rifles and pistols, and since we live in the South, there's quite a bit of humidity (a gun's worst enemy).
I was wondering, is silicone/cotton yarn available? Or would regular cotton yarn work fine?
We both take extra steps to protect our rifles from rust, but I can't help but wonder if silicone yarn is necessary.
Thanks!
