I knit 2 Tudora Cowls (free pattern (http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/tudora)) for my girlfriend who loves to wear cowls in wintertime.

Each one took only one evening, and used only 93-103 yds worsted weight. The pattern calls for aran weight, but I got gauge with this yarn.

This one used 93 yds, knit as per pattern directions:

This one used 103 yards, see my notes (http://www.ravelry.com/projects/ArtLady/tudora-2) at Ravelry about 'why':

The tan cowl is already blocked.
The wine cowl wasn't blocked when the photo was taken. It's on the blocking mat now.

I used leftover Mushishi yarn from a 2010 project. Gratifying!

Beautiful and useful too. Who could ask for more? How nice you could do them for a friend.

Beautiful and beautiful. And also a textbook example of the benefits of blocking. Yes, indeed, lucky friend!

Absolutely beautiful! I would be thrilled to receive one of those...what size needles did you use?

The pattern recommended US6, which is what I used. The reason for a relatively skinny needle with aran yarn is so the cowl is firm. That's what she

. I didn't want to go down to US5 with worsted, so I used the US6, and my gauge turned out perfect.

Very nice gifts Dollyce. Your friend will really love those. The yarn is lovely and your buttons...:muah: especially the one on the more maroon cowl. I love the yarn, it looks like it has been sitting in a snow storm. Very wintery, soft and luscious. Nice blocking as always.
