Hi everyone!

Firstly, I would like to say that I don't knit but my Mom does, but she does not speak English so I have to post the questions here :aww:

Secondly, we need help in "solving" this pattern or making something similar to it. Maybe someone already knows it, and would like to help us.

Anyway, here are the links to the photos what are we striving for:
(I can't post links yet... I have 0 points, but I will put them here as soon as I can)!

They look like 3D rhomboids and I would like to ware something like that and my mom has the time and will to make me a jumper :yay: All we need is the pattern. She already tried something, but it looked more like squares and they weren't "poping out" enough (although she says it is cuz she used thin wool). We will keep trying on our own, but if anyone can help us - please do.

So it's not the sweater pattern, but the stitch itself that's in the sweater?

I see it the pic fine, but I'm not sure what you are really looking for. Are asking how to do the stitch or make a sweater or the elbow patch?

I'm thinking she wants a pattern with diamonds in it like the patch...?

There's another link showing just the fabric so I think it's the stitch. We're having a little trouble with the wording here....

The patch looks sewn on to me. It seems that getting the diamond shape is a problem. Maybe. I'm not finding instructions for a diamond shape.

Maybe double moss stitch (http://newstitchaday.com/double-moss-stitch/)?

Double moss is what I was thinking, too. How it looks I. Reality will be some what dependent on the yarn though.

I'm starting to think that the stitch pattern not popping is the problem and yes, it looks like the yarn could be part of the problem. A yarn that gives good stitch definition would be needed.

Hi guys! First: sorry sorry sorry, for not replying I had exams and I didn't have the time to check the forum.
I really appreciate your effort. "Jan in CA" you are right, I use the wrong term.. I meant the stitch not the pattern, I'm not good with the exact. Sorry for that, English is my second language.
My Mom thinks we should use bigger and thicker needles as well as wool, but she still isn't sure about the stitch, so that's where we still need help!:knitting:

Did you do well on your exams? I hope so!

I revisited this link http://www.porhomme.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/12/folk-hand-knit-moss-stitch-cardigan-5.jpg and noticed that it says "moss-stitch-cardigan" so I'm pretty sure a moss stitch is what you need. The right size needles with the wool/yarn (I think you use of "wool" where we use "yarn") should produce the desired result. It will need a tight stitch so the needle should be smaller than what is normally used, perhaps.

Your English is actually quite good, it's making sure we all are talking about the same thing that's important. You're ahead of me in languages, I only know English. I'm glad you checked back in, I'm hoping to know that you get this figured out. It's really great that you can help your mom this way.

The image in the link below looks very similar to the pattern in the coat, and the directions are given for how to do it, too: http://www.dummies.com/how-to/content/how-to-knit-moss-stitch.html

Hope your exams went well!
