Go through the book and try it. Also, there are videos on this site under the free videos tab that will show you how to cast on and knit and purl. Then ask a specific question in the forum on how to do something you don't understand.

Hi and welcome. Yes, when you come across something you don't understand, ask a specific question about how to do it or what it means. The videos (http://www.knittinghelp.com/videos/learn-to-knit)we have here can help you out too.

Hi. The videos linked to above should help a lot. There are lots of others too if you search on youtube, sometimes seeing different ones help. I was really slow with learning to knit but I finally got it and now I love it. I bet you will too. Have fun.

Ask your mother or aunties for advice, sometimes face to face lessons can be very rewarding ... failing that - go to your local yarn shop, the chick/guy behind the counter will be a knitter ...

Welcome to Knitting Help and to the world of knitting! We all started out at sometime and are all still learning and loving it. Yes, get help from as many different sources as possible.
Glad to have you here.

Once you get started, you'll find out that a lot of people you know knit and you never knew it too. They'll be helpful (probably to varying degrees) as well. No matter what you run into, there's SOMEBODY out there who's run into the same thing, and gotten it sorted.
As Mary, the owner of the LYS here, always says "It's knitting, not rocket science." And if there's anybody who's sorted more knitting problems than Mary, I don't know who that person would be.
