A few of us in the Bernat Forum are making a Crochet Vest (http://www.bernat.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=253&t=3089), using Bamboo yarn. I am loving the feel of this yarn! So far, I've finished the Left Front, and am starting the Right Front now.

That's a pretty vest! It will be very flattering. I may have to pick up a crochet hook again. I haven't tried the Bernat bamboo yarn but I'm sure it's at least as nice as the bamboo sock yarn I have. The Bernat bamboo yarn looks positively luscious. Please, keep us updated with more photos!

I sure will! I am loving how quickly this vest is coming together. Tonight, I started making the Right Front, and I'm almost ready to make the Band for it! :)

Thank you all for the love! :muah:

Woofens, you can do it! I taught myself crochet by using videos online, and a beginner DVD from a craft store. I started in 2010, and now feel comfortable with it. :)

Bernat Bamboo (http://www.bernat.com/product.php?LGC=bamboo) yarn is about $5 a skein. But, if you're like me, you can buy it with coupons at Hobby Lobby or AC Moore, one skein at a time. :teehee:

This lovely vest looks to be done entirely in single crochet and double crochet, or is it something else? If it's just sc and dc it should make a good early project for a new hooker. I find it tempting and if I ever really crochet again I think I'd like this for myself.

The front bands include more complicated stitches, working through the front or back posts, but I found videos online to help with that. Also, I made step-by-step videos while making my vest. So those videos will help, if you decide to make the project. :)

Aha! Post stitches are what make the front look denser. I did a large (think queen sized bed) blanket with fpdc and bpdc and it just about killed my hands. Then I switched to knitting. :roflhard: I think if Woofens wants to learn to crochet and make this, it's a reasonable goal.

Yeah, those stitches involved quite a bit of wrist-twists!
I can't imagine making an entire blanket like that! :thud:

Sandy, it was definitely a labor of  love. I made it for my son who is a big guy and needs a big blanket. He uses it a lot, it's helped keep him warm, and it was worth it. Will I do it again? :zombie: Not bloody likely. My wrists ache just thinking about it.
