View Full Version : Manly sock needed for self striping yarn

I need to get back to some yarn I bought to knit socks for the hubby. Problem is that it is hand painted, self striping....the stripes are inconsistant. I really want to have some sort of pattern for the cuff. I get soooo bored doing k3p1 for 12". Problem is that I cannot find a "manly" pattern that will look good with the striping yarn. Do I need to just suck it up and do knit purl or is there something I am missing about picking a stitch pattern?

Some socks are stockinette for most of the cuff with a ribbed top. Would that be better? I guess if you wanted, you could do garter stitch. Have you looked at ravelry?

K3P1 for yards of knitting is hateful.

I only do 1.5" of ribbing and then knit the rest of the sock plain, but I have this free pattern stashed away for future use which might work for you.
