Okay, I am a tree hugger and a human rights activist, I'll admit it.
I happened to stumble upon this cool web site about an hour ago and figured I should share. If you:

Are against unfair labor practice in 3rd world countries
Can knit/crochet a 4"x4" square in your spare time
want to join a public protest against Nike Inc and above said labor practices

then click on this site and join in

One more thing that's less political :P
If you need to buy recycled silk yarn - I found this awesome price (AND it helps charity when you shop this link)

Recycled silk yarn (http://www.gearthatgives.com/cgi-bin/WebObjects/CTDStore.woa/wa/product?siteID=220&itemID=25528&origin=11140)

it's the cheapest price I've found (starting @ 10.95 a skein)

and you can use it for knitty.com's Unbiased hobo bag (http://knitty.com/ISSUEfall04/PATTunbiased.html)

Happy knitting today!

Thank you for the reference for recycled silk. I bought a few skeins at my LYS for considerably more and made a dressy scarf/shawl. I get such compliments everytime I wear it. Its dressy and casual all at the same time. I want to buy more, I have lots of ideas for it. For those not familiar with this yarn - its not the easiest to work with. It twists and stretches. But I used big needles, size 17, and wehn it was done, all the inconsistencies became beautiful.
