 OMGOODNESS, I have had a horrible time keeping my mouth closed until this moment!! :happydance: :happydance: :happydance:
A few months ago, I guess around April because I didn't start knittng socks until Jan or Feb and made up this pattern around March...I am now told that I 'designed' and I am no longer allowed to say 'made up'. Then I saw that KnitPicks (my very favorite place) was looking for new designs. I thought  what the hay...I made up, excuse me, designed a sock; I'll send it in and I did, a very roughly written pattern and pictures of the ones I had 1st made out of sockotta with smaller (way smaller fringies). THEN ONE DAY  I got an email that they wanted my design and a whole bunch of other stuff said...I was  stunned for the 1st time...not as stunned as I am now, seeing it on the website! They sent me the yarn and here we have it...that's the very short version. I will never ever take another pattern for granted, they are very hard to write and I had to readjust my knitting to fit within the sock gauge (I'm a tight knitter so I always just recalculate to fit my knitting, now I had to do it the other way around and that was hard!). I was very, very blessed in that my test knitter that had to sign off on everything is LYS owner and has been in the knitting biz in one way or another for almost 30 years and has published many patterns, has one now in Family Circle Knitting. She guided me to the magazines to read that had the 'general' pattern format and she told where I needed to be clearer here and there, but in the end, when I took her the final product she was very pleased with the sock and the pattern. Patterns are really hard to write. Those of you that do regularly...I tip my hat to you. Scribbling directions on a piece of paper is far different from writing it correctly.
All that long story...I had to tell you all of it now because I've been holding it in for so long and I got an email today that it would be up tomorrow and I looked tonite....AND THERE THEY ARE....MY SOCKS...I'M A SOCK DESIGNER..AHHHH :happydance: :happydance: :happydance: :happydance: :happydance: ...I'm a bit EXCITED, you guys!!
I'm so sorry that I kept ya'll out of the loop, kinda had to. And I haven't been around much bc I went from making 3 pairs of socks in a week to taking 3 weeks to make a pair of socks...and I was ill and I had to do that afghan.
Soooo...there you have my news....I'M IN KNITPICKS!!!!!!
Sorry for such a long post, but I had to tell ya'll everything that I have been holding in for over 2 months!!

Hey Rebecca, since so many people seem like they're going to do the socks, why not start a KAL in the KAL forum? That way, people whoa re making them can ask the DESIGNER if they run into a sticky spot!! What do you think?

:waving: Hey everybody!! I am actually floating around looking like this :D and this :happydance: but...mostly I'm still this  , in a bit of shock...lol!!
I am absolutely overwhelmed by what everybody is saying...ya'll are all so very, very sweet and kind. The fact that you like my socks and have these great things to say just means more to me than I can express!
Hilde, girls I would love to do a KAL, but I can't do it for a little while because when I went to the doc Tues. he put me back on bedrest and (oops) I've not done what he said bc that's the night the socks came out online...what does he expect?! I think it's a great idea to do it and take pictures of everyone's socks, that would be so much fun. I feel like I am letting ya'll down after you've said all of these wonderful things. If ya'll want to go ahead and start one I can check in a couple of times a day. My granddaughter's 2nd bday is this month and I told her mom I was going to make a sundress for her (I hope) to wear for her bday party and another nephew is getting married July 30 (just found out) and since his cousin got an afghan, he expects one; so I have to make an afghan.
I'm not like all of ya'll that can do all of those projects at one time...I can only do one, don't know why, I guess it's the way I'm wired...lol. Would ya'll mind waiting a bit...or starting without me if you would like, like I said, I can check in and answer any questions. I'm so  sorry that I can't jump in and make a pair right away. I mean, I am really sorry, I feel like such a dink after ya'll all have said these wonderful things AND you want to make the socks that I, ME, REBECCA designed and I can't do the KAL right now. Maybe while I'm in bed (which is where I'm going after this post) I can get a lot done on the afghan and I will reach the point where I want to stop and do something else and it will be socks!! Shoot, then it will have to be granddaughter's dress. I'm thinking outloud... :roflhard: :roflhard: ...and typing what I'm saying outloud...I've lost my mind over all of this business of seeing those socks that I knitted on KP website...lol! I'll check back a little later and ya'll let me know how you would like to do this bc I am very, very honored that you want to do the KAL and I will do be good with whatever ya'll decide. Shoot, it doesn't mean that I have to make the socks whilce you are doing it. So...let me know and I'll check back...like I just said...duh  I just love you guys and don't want to disappoint you.
I    ALL OF THE :XX: :XY: :X: HERE....YOU GUYS ARE THE BEST!!!!!!

Isn't that sign too cool?! My husband is the best...lol!!

YOU are are so very lucky!! When I learned it it was bc my LYS had a pair of socks with this fringe on it and I asked if she had a pattern and she told me, no...just crochet it on a regular pair of socks. Well, I can't crochet so I was bummed :( . Then I was looking through a book that I had recently gotten in the mail called 'Folk Bags' and there are a couple of purses in it with the same technique!! I was thrilled, but I couldn't get it for quite some time, either, so I practiced and I practiced and I said forget it; then I came back to it and practiced some more, and forever (or so it seemed at the time...lol!) and I finally got it...on regular size needles and single points, then I practiced on those for a while before I ever tried it on socks. NOW, let me tell you why YOU are so LUCKY...VERY, VERY LUCKY!!! Because our sweet Amy has the technique right here!!!!!!http://knittinghelp.com/knitting/advanced_techniques/
Had I known that I would have kissed her feet...lol!! I just saw it the other day when I was learning to continental st. from the cds that I got from Amy, yep, I've been a thrower the whole year that I've been knitting and never even bothered to look at any of these videos until I got my cds from Amy and now I can knit in the continental method...thanks to our AMY and so many other things, like I'm gonna do an intarsia scarf and fair isle socks. Anyway...all that said to tell you that when I got to the advance tech. sections I saw the area for making the loop st and it's the same technique that I used!! She is a great teacher and you will pick it up by watching Amy; it just takes a little practice. I'm so EXCITED that it's on here AND that it's the same method bc I've found out that there are other methods for the same st...and they are hard; but, if anyone needs me to; I can probably find the alternative methods; but I'm sure that you won't bc Amy will walk you right through it AND....THIS IS VERY, VERY COOL, she even explains the double loop and you can do yours like that and they will have twice as much fringe...that would be too cute!! After I saw that this past weekend I'm thinking about trying a pair with the double loop (I didn't know there was such a thing before, I must confess  ...lol). So go watch the video and practice with single points and bigger yarn 1st, okay?

 Rebecca--Congratulations on your pattern being published .You are a DESIGNER--how very cool is that?? The way you cheer everyone on  is one of the reasons everyone has responded so much I think...even though I'm new, I can see that. And I hope you're getting the rest the doctor told you to get. Kudos! :cheering:
