I adore my flip-top mittens! I can't tell you how many pairs of mittens I lost when I left them on top of the car because I was trying to get one of the girls stuffed into their carseat on a frigid winter day. With the flippy things, I don't have to take them off when I clip dd in.

Anybody wanna take a stab at combining these with these (http://www.knitty.com/ISSUEsummer05/PATTcigar.html)?

Couldn't you just knit first pattern, but BO where you want the fingerless part to be?

I love the mittens with the flappies over the fingies... makes it nice when we up here are trying to press the itty bitty buttons on our Auto Start in the cold winter so the car can be toasty before you get in... :happydance:

It's hard to choose between dying of frostbite or a nicotine fit...

I think those fingerless gloves with the flaps are called glittens. There must be a free pattern on the internet.

Yeah, I've seen a few around, but didn't know what the heck they were for. It's the little things in life you miss...LOL!

But, some have half-fingers and some have no fingers. I think the latter are called "convertible mittens"

I think I'll make some with just the finger parts...no hands parts.

Yeaaaah, like a papercrane. That's actually how I picked my username. As I was signing up I was trying to make a papercrane for a friends upcoming wedding. FYI: I never finished one that was gift-worthy...Now, I'm thinking about knitting one...
