The Incredible Custom Fit Raglan Sweater (http://www.woolworks.org/patterns/raglan.html)pattern is great for things like this. It shows you how to use any weight yarn and make a custom sweater or cardigan for anyone. You can also choose what type of collar to put on it. :)

No collar, but with SONNET (http://www.knitty.com/ISSUEfall03/PATTsonnet.html) you can fit the pattern to whatever yarn you want.

Those are both nice but still not what I have in mind.. I was thinking Big Funky comfy collared sweater...
To wrap yourself in on a cold cozy night :)

Sounds good, huh ?

One that does the math for me.. I hate figuring all that stuff out...

I don't know of a free one, but one thought is to check the yarn company sites and see what patterns are available for their bulky yarns.

I have a Better Homes and Gardens Knitted Cold-Weather Sweaters booklet that has a collared long (down to the knee) bulky, cabled sweater that probably could be adjusted for length. I don't recall where I got it. It says that it's a Leisure Arts Publication.

This book (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0609608800/qid=1123305047/sr=8-1/ref=pd_bbs_sbs_1/103-7754201-4501419?v=glance&s=books&n=507846) has the most fantastic, simple patterns for bulky yarn. Awesome cardigans. Maybe your library has it? (Mine didn't but I got it on inter-library loan!) :D

Again not free... but Chunky Knits (book) has just what you are looking for (At least I think :?? ) sort of like a sweater "blanket"

I was thinking the same thing as Julie. There is a great bulky cardigan pattern there. It's on my list of to dos!

You can check out the website for this authors, who own a yarn shop in NYC. http://www.theyarnco.com Some of the patterns in their books can be bought individually on the site. But wouldn't you know, I couldn't find the cardigan one I was thinking of! :??

OK - I found these at knittingpatterncentral (http://www.knittingpatterncentral.com/directory.php):

(You could make this one bigger & bulkier just by following the same directions using whatever needles your bulky yarn calls for)
