View Full Version : Looking for hat pattern using fingering weight

I have 2 balls of sock yarn that I just don't want to use for socks. I thought I could make a hat for each of my sons instead, using the sock yarn. Anyone know of a basic hat pattern using fingering weight yarn?

You could find a pattern and then just adjust for gauge. You know, multiply the number of inches around in the pattern and then cast on however many stitches it would take in the fingering yarn to get that many inches.

Thanks! I'm winging it. My first time trying a hat from the top down. Wish me luck!!

This (http://www.mielkesfarm.com/bsic_hat.htm) is my fave 'made to fit' hat pattern! I use it for all hats ;)

Oops...I didn't see that you were doing a top down hat, my selection won't work (I don't think!)...but it's a good tool to have on hand for making hats to fit anyone ;)

Rebecca, I actually saw that link you gave in another post and took a look at it. It looked to complicated to me at that moment so I figured it was easier to just wing it. haha

The hat is going well. I think it will have a bit of a flat top but that's okay. It will be an original!
