Can anyone tell me (in plain English!!) what the following part of a pattern means?

Row 2 - K 3 for border, *with yarn in front, slip next 2 sts as if to knit, yarn to back knit next 2 sts * , repeating between * s across row , ending K 3 for border.

Thanks!

it means exactly what it says. let's pretend you have 46 stitches on your needle (the math may not work here but pretend...)

you knit the first 3 stitches like normal. Then starting at the first asterisk you do everything it tells you over and over again until you get to the last three stitches and knit the last three as normal.

Patterns always have * in them. It shows the stitches that you need to repeat.

In this case, for example, you would

K3

wyif slip next 2 stitches as if to knit, put yarn in back and knit 2--You do this set of stitches as many times as will fit across the pattern until you have 3 left, then

K3.

So in any pattern the directions between * and * are what you repeat.
