I was just reading about someone making a booga bag. Would anyone have a pic of one so I could see what they look like? It sounds interesting.

Back in the day, I thought this pattern was way beyond me. Well, after just a few hours, mine is more than half done. It is just plain easy. Very repetitive and only a few challenging moments, and those were more under the category of Dumb Blonde moments rather than hard pattern issues..

I am doing a gift one out of Elann Peruvian wool, in pink and plum, will show it pre-felted and post felted. I have some Noro Kureyon to do it for myself, and anticipate doing many more of these as time goes on.

Thanks for sending the pictures. The bag is beautiful. Could I ask where you purchased the yarn? I checked some websites out...they also have the big Noro Kureyon yarn. Do you use the regular or the big? I'm going to make one...and when I do...I may pop on here to get more information to get started. Thanks again.

I got my Noro Kureyon at littleknits.com to make mine (which won't happen until after Christmas)

Not only did I confuse my childrens names, but I confuse their names with the dog's names. Kyle, Adam and Cooper. Its best, I think, to name the dog a dog name! Spike! Butch! Bosco!

I don't know why but I call my son Isaiah by his uncle name all the time.. my brother RAy... and I call my brother Ray by Isaiah's name...

I've made two Booga bags and really enjoyed them. Its actually a good beginer project-the two biggest things to learn are knitting with circulars and picking up stitches and there are two really good videos here to cover those two topics. Actually the most challenging part (and its not all that challenging) is getting the i cord through the holes made by the dpn's. I actually developed a technique where I thread a piece of yarn through the icord using a tapestry needle and then pull the icord through the hole using the thread. I wouldn't be overly hung up on Noro. I knit both of mine using locally made and hand dyed varigated yarn and it worked out really well. Each bag turned out differently than the other because of the way it was dyed. Just make sure the yarn is all wool and not washable.

That's a great idea as that is the only part I was swearing over when I made mine!!! :rofling:

I just got my yarn for my booga bag. We need a smiley with the shakes because I really want to start my bag but I have a scarf on the needles at the moment so I must finish it first. *sigh* Here we go!

Mulled wine and mist... sooooo pretty!

Here is my question... Do you really need to double up the yarn? Would WOTA work with one strand?

kitkat
12-01-2005, 06:14 PM
Of course mine is 95% complete and not felted yet, but I did not double my Elann Peruvian wool, which is fairly similar to the WOTA. Someone posted a bit ago about doubling the yarn and having it end up a bit wonky.

mintdee
12-01-2005, 06:18 PM
Whew thanks :) I didn't get enough to double the yarn so I was really hoping that I wouldn't have to. I will be starting mine as soon as I can finish my scarf.

Those are going to be lovely together! I loved the mulled wine. I can't decide, myself. I'm torn between Tulip and Daffodill and going funky or using Stream, Rain and Chambray and graduating from darkest to lightest. I should really make my mind up soon.
