I want to make my DH a neckwarmer sort of thing for Christmas...

he doesn't wear scarfs, but he said he would probably wear a neckwarmer sort of thing, provided it was "snazzy". :D

Any suggestions for a pattern? I haven't knitted in the round but I would love to try that out... I can knit and purl with no problems, but haven't done cables or any of the more complex stuff.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions! OH, and would love suggestions for a yarn that my DH would love too! He has sensitive skin so it must be soft, but not too expensive.

I found a "darth" scarf thing somewhere...

It's just a short tube of knitting by the looks of it, and he could probably put it on as an extra hood too instead of it just hanging.

There is always this (http://www.wiseneedle.com/patternpage.asp?pattern=knitpatdarth). Edited: Sorry, didn't see someone already mentioned the darth scarf. Oh well. The next part is still relevant though.

I however, chose to make my son a very masculine magic scarf. Remember magic scarves? Well they are just stockinette tubes with dropped stitches. So I just made a tube with some wool blend worsted weight yarn and dropped every 5th stitch. Now it is a tube that stretches long to be a scarf, or it expands to be a neckwarmer/hood thingy. I based my pattern off of this (http://www.spellingtuesday.com/magicscarf.html)[/url]

I googled images for Snazzy Scarf and this is what's considered snazzy out there.

So which is it going to be? :D

This is sexual stereotyping, but I don't think a moebius is very masculine looking. I also found it an exercise in frustration to pick up and twist the stitches required to get the darn thing on the needle.

I like the Darth scarf. Just think of what you're trying to do as the turtleneck without the sweater. Maybe that will give you some inspiration.

Of course, you can always go with Ingrid's choices... :roflhard:
