...what my dad MADE for me for Christmas.
He's a woodworking genius, and although he didn't know the first thing about making a spinning wheel, it really works! lol
I TOTALLY bawled like a baby when I opened it.

I also added a pic of some of his guitars. These were Xmas gifts for my sister, nephew and my son.

Oh, Silver, what a treasure. The spinning wheel is beautiful, but the fact that your Dad put so much time and love into creating it is really moving. Enjoy every minute you spend working with it!

Thank you everyone. If you're speechless, think how I was when I opened it. All I could do is stutter and cry. And I really lost it when I saw the engraving on the front.

My dad made up this little doodle back in highschool called Mickey Rat. It became his "insignia" in a way and when my sis and I were little he would doodle it on napkins in restaurants, on cards and notes, anywhere just to leave a little "I love you" note to my sis and I.

He engraved Mickey Rat on the front of the spinning wheel.

The wheel is made of Mahogany, Oak, and Ash.

 What a beautiful, thoughtful gift. Your dad must be a very special man. All the hours that went into those gifts!! I think that we as knitters can appreciate the time that he must have put in making everything.

Thank you everyone! Yes, dad is very talented. I could show you a plethora of other equally as stunning items, and a list of very touching additions he makes, but I'll spare you. Suffice it to say that it's rare when he doesn't make someone cry with a gift he makes.

Well.. one more... he made a 2 foot long wooden boat for my son several years ago. Buried inside are three notes. One for Taylor to read when he graduates highschool, one for when he graduates college, and one for when he has his own child. They're embedded *inside* the boat, and the compartments are sealed with a time release glue so they'll loosen on their own as the years go by.
*sniff*

THAT is SO special. You are a very lucky daughter and your father is certainly a great man not to mention terribly gifted. I want to hug both of you.

I don't think there are any words to describe how awesome the gifts are. Please take lots of pictures of your dad (and you) with the spinning wheel for the many generations of family members who will love it and will have a picture of the gggggrandfather who made it. Have pictures framed. I think the Mouserat would have sent anyone over the edge with tears.
