I made the smallest size and had to string on over 6 feet worth of beads. After I had finished that part, I found out that there is such thing as a beading needle :wall:

Oh well, I love it!

So if you'd had a beading needle, how long do you think making that would've taken? I ask because since you've posted this, that bracelet won't get out of my head!

The beading took me several nights (hour here, hour there), but I used a piece of tape wrapped around the yarn to get the beads on. Had to replace the tape every so often and well, don't try this at home. It's yucky.

However, get yourself a beading needle and it would be a breeze. There were 7 beads per inch and I had over 6 feet worth. You can do the rest of the math.

Also, there are bead "hanks" which are beads that are already strung, so the transfer of those would be even easier. For all of those that have little patience, I wish you the best in your bead hank shopping endeavors.

The bracelet itself, took a couple nights, but don't forget I have a 2 and half year old, so it wasn't straight knitting.

I would say that you could have it done in a day to three days tops.

This bracelet is beautiful. Beading needles are definitely your friends. If I had to use a makeshift stringing contraption, the bracelet would be one of my many UFO's. :??

A quote from my blog about the beading needles:

I have one of those beading needles,
it's got a name Magic Eye or Big Eye something like that, costs $1.00 or $1.50 (I was charged a different price on the 2nd one I bought!) and it's just a big flexible wire thingy that makes it much easier to get the beads on.

Beldie --

I've had everything I need -- including a beading needle -- to make one of these for a VERY long time now. It's one of those things that keeps getting shoved to the end of the Projects I Want To Do list.

Yours is lovely!! And LOOK ... it's something we have in common. ;-)

absolutely stunning Beldie! A friend of mine at work was making that earlier last year...I wonder if she ever finished hers  I think she strung all her beads by hand too

Here's a very easy & quick way to get lots of beads strung...

Providing that you're strining the beads on to your yarn BEFORE you knit... thread your big eye needle with your yarn. Dump your beads into a container, and repeatedly jab your needle into the dish, letting beads fall onto the needle. Turn upright, let beads slide down the needle, onto your yarn... repeat.

This works better if the container is small enough that you have a good inch of beads, but wide enough that most of the needle will fit into the container. Those big magic eye/big eye needles that are flexible make very quick work of this. They're a little pricey, but WELL worth it if you have 6 feet of bead stringing to do!
