I figured I should post this before I leave Korea, so anybody who is searching for info about buying yarn in Korea can find it. There seem to be only a couple of places to buy yarn in Seoul.

The Hoehyeon Underground Market near Myeong-Dong station has a few shops, and Wal-Mart carries a few skeins (we're talking three or four only) plus a selection of plastic knitting needles + sewing tools from Germany.

By far, the best place to shop is in DongDaeMun Market, the sprawling wholesale market for garments, bags, and everything, near the subway station of the same name. The wool market is in the basement of the blah-looking Dongdaemun Market Shopping Complex building. The market is mostly geared toward garment industry buyers... there's a lot of selection, but many of the shops in the market won't sell individual skeins.

But what you really want to see are the pictures! Right?

Yeah, that's a great price! They all look the same size though. Cool photos! They remind me of Chinatown in NYC when I was there. ;)

They're all 80cm but the needle sizes are different. 4mm and under is fifty cents, over that is a dollar.

That's amazing! I wish I could go there just for that experience, but I would feel so out of place.

HI,
I'm hoping to travel to Korea to get my little girl and hoping to go to a yarn store to buy something to make her (hopefully they have traditional Korean looking patterns??) Thanks :-)

Hi Joe! Cool pictures. I WANT one of those cute bamboo needles. How's about shlepping a bunch of pairs home and we'll buy them? Well, can't help asking, they look really cute. I got a nice pair of needles in Chinatown (I live in NYC) for one or two dollars. Anyhoo, love looking at pictures of faraway places. Thanks!
