I wanted to use up some chunky yarn that I had so I used this free chunky cable purse pattern (http://www.knitpicks.com/Projects/Projects_Display_Yarn.aspx?itemid=50441220&yarnid=5420129) from knitpicks, modifying it quite a bit!! I stayed with the same cable pattern but I did it on a size 9 needle rather than 13, skipped the canvas lining, skipped the wooden purse handles and did i-cord in its place, and did one extra repeat of the cables. Then I did a single crochet of pink chunky yarn around the top and voila! I think it's really cute and I plan to give it to a little girl that I babysit. It ended up being about 6" long by 4" wide. Perfect for a little girly girl!! :D

I was also going to mention.....if anyone looks at this pattern and can make ANY SENSE out of the 'bag bottom' portion, let me know. It made no sense to me whatsoever so I had to kind of wing it.

Hey knit queen...you might want to search the threads b/c I swear someone just posted that they finished that same purse...about a week ago! maybe I'm confused...someone definately posted a link to the pattern b/c I looked at it.

Thanks for sharing. Very cute purse. The cable stitch was one of the first
stitches i was interested in when i first learn how to knit.

I love it! That's my baby, I designed the pattern. I love how you've changed it to make it your own!

If any of you downloaded this pattern before yesterday, please go back and grab a new copy. There was an error in the directions for the bottom which we just fixed. And please keep sharing your bags! I would love to see them!

And, BTW, Angelia, are you the Angelia I know from the SBing world?

That's good to know!! I had troubles with the bottom and winged that part, glad to know I wasn't missing something!

Thanks for the nice little pattern!

No...and for some reason that makes me sad!

Nice job: that pattern looks almost exactly like the one I used to make the cabled purse with the round handles in another post. Just knit a rectangle using that pattern that's the width you want and twice the length. Fold in half, seam the sides, and stitch the cast on and cast off edges to the handles. Lining is a nice touch, too. And since the pattern is free from Knit Picks, there's no need for permission from my class instructor!

Isn't it fun when the original designer can post in a thread? Love that!

Angelia- I know a scrapbooker named Angelia. I've never met anyone else with the name- she pronounces hers just like Angela. That's all. Thanks!

Yep, it's a pretty simple pattern. I wanted to learn to knit cables, and I loved the cable clutches that I keep seeing all over, but I needed something a little bigger than a clutch. The pattern was born. I am very embarassed about the mistake in the instructions, though.

I made the cabled purse also, and I love it! I've had many compliments on it (I made mine with the wooden handles); I had a little trouble with the bottom, but I winged it and it went together great. I plan on making it in another color later on.
