View Full Version : sock help!
Hi, my name is Chel and I'm new to both the site and knitting. I want desperately to make socks. I do fine with the pattern until I get the heel flap done. From that point I am lost. I have read so many directions on what to do after that point (even the Knitting for Dummies!!!!) and nothing makes sense to me. Can someone give me simplified instructions for sock making? I was so excited to try this, but am feeling sort of disheartened after so much failure.
~Chel, who has cold feet due to not being able to knit socks.

Silver's Sock Class (http://www.cometosilver.com/socks/SockClass_Beginning.htm) is pretty simple and has pictures for each step.

Silver's tutorial is GREAT! I thought that I would add a couple more for reference. I've found socks101 (http://www.royea.net/sockdemo1.html) to be very good. You can find some videos here (http://www.knittingatknoon.com/demos.html). You will find LOTS of info here (http://www.socknitters.com/default.htm)..more for future reference I would think ;) A great article here (http://www.knitty.com/ISSUEspring05/FEATsocks101.html). And more tips here (http://www.socknitters.com/FAQ/FAQ_how.htm). And the one that got me knitting sock...this episode & article (http://www.diynetwork.com/diy/shows_dkng/episode/0,2046,DIY_18180_36323,00.html) from Knitty Gritty. You will find a couple of videos there, as well as some great tips, especially on the last page. Have fun knitting socks.....IT'S FUN FUN FUN :cheering: :cheering: :cheering:
I appreciate the help! I can not wait to do my first pair of socks!
