I have two of these sleeves done, now just have to finish the rest of the sweater! It's made with Debbie Bliss Merino Aran--so, so nice to work with! The pattern is from a Leisure Arts booklet called Irresistable Arans.[/b]

Looks lovely. I like the mix of lace and cables, it softens the overall effect and makes it so feminine :)

Are you also working on your daughters sweater, if so, how's that going?

It's ready for seaming, too, but when I tried to fit the sleeve caps in, they're too long. I thought they were, then I thought they'd be ok, but now I have to frog about an inch off the top. Hopefully I'll be able to sew them in then.

It's done, it's done!! I washed it and it stretched to HUGE proportions, so I wet it again and put it in the dryer. It's longer than I had anticipated, but it's just a bigger sweater. At least it's wearable, softer than clouds, and very, very warm.

Definately NOT your average Aran sweater!

BEAUTIFUL!!!

It looks like a tremendous amount of knitting.
What size needles did you use?
And just for a little perspective.........
how many stitches are cast on, say, just for the back?

(green with envy)

Thanks, everyone!

It was knit with aran weight--Debbie Bliss Merino (delicious) on size 7's, so it really didn't take that long. I'm not home so I can't look at the pattern, but there were maybe 150 st on the back. I'll have to check. It was fun to knit because there wasn't a boring row. The cables across the back were a bit tiresome, but they only happened every 8 rows. After a while the pattern was easy to remember, so it did keep my interest without having to constantly look at the pattern.

Oh, I am so smitten with that sweater. I got all excited because I also have a booklet called "Irresitable Arans" and I thought I might make it too, but mine is a different booklet put out by Patons. I might be getting inspired to do a complex sweater pretty soon, though!
Gorgeous, Ingrid (as usual). :cheering:
