Decided I'd post a some pics of my project/training knitting.
First thing I made (it's hanging up on my cube at work)
Seed stitch heart from Stitch n Bitch :
http://kat.kungphu.com/images/heart.jpg
Second I made a kerchief (also from SnB) when I learned increases :

http://kat.kungphu.com/images/teehee.jpg
http://kat.kungphu.com/images/top.jpg
^ (I was fooling around saying that I could almost wear it for a shirt)^
I've also made a set of hand/wrist warmers from http://ohmystars.net/craft/knitting/pgloves.html in the same yarn as the heart.

And, my latest accomplishment and current pride and joy : The Knitty Kitty! >^_^<

http://kat.kungphu.com/images/kitty_right.jpg
http://kat.kungphu.com/images/kitty_left.jpg
http://kat.kungphu.com/images/kitty_front.jpg

So, that's pretty much what I've been doing for the past month.

Sorry, there's so many pics.
(If it's too many and the mods want them seperated just let me know and I'll change it. Don't want to cause problems, but didn't want to flood the board either.)

I don't think so. But, I'm not really sure what felting is, so...I dunno.

The pattern came from http://geobabe.livejournal.com/195349.html.
But, I think it's missing part for the head. If you go based on the directions, you wouldn't get a whole kitty head. I just added on the knitting until it matched the front.

And the yarn I used was Moda Dea Dream in black. I used kleenex for stuffing. Though I'm probably going to get some actual stuffing for the next one.

They are just -too- adorable!

Thanks for all the compliments. :happydance:

Nope. It was really quick and easy. Made it up in a day. Probably would have been quicker, but my darn job got in the way all day. ;)

I'm on my third one now. One more to go after this (for other people) then I'm gonna get some other color fuzzy yarn to make multi colored kitties. ^_^

Hmmm, wonder if I could pull off calico...

Excellent!

I only have some blue wool at home so it will have to be a blue cat as I cant wait for any wool to arrive (via internet, no wool shops close).

I was planning to do a black and brown one to look like my tortie, I think you could do a calico too...

I've never used more than one color before. I'm a little scared.
But, it'll be exciting too. ^_^

Just gotta try finding the right colors...

I'm going to do a black and white one....to look like one of my kitties. I'm sure I'll have to make one of these for each of my boys.

Did you use the same needle size as is called for in the pattern?

Friskums
01-29-2006, 06:10 PM
No. I didn't have a size 2. My smallest is a size 4, so that's what I used.

I don't really think it makes that much of a difference though. Seeing as you're going by row count rather then inches or anything.

But...I don't know for sure if the needle size makes a diff seeing as I'm only about a month and a half into knitting...
Maybe I just got lucky.

Hello,

I need help with the kitty pattern (my second project only). It says to knit a row of 16, then knit 10 and turn, leaving six stitches unknitted, then knit the shortned row.... What does it mean by turning? Do I just turn the needles around and knit? But that means the yarn is on the left with the stitches.

Please help! Thanks,

Red

I think that's right. That's what I did anyway. For one. On the other kitty's I've made I just did 5 or 6 rows and seamed them together. It doesn't really make a difference I think.

Red, do a "wrap & turn" or W&T.

Slip one stitch as if to purl, bring yarn to front, slip stitch back to where it came from, turn work over and continue knitting in the opposite direction.

If you do the turn without the wrap, I think you end up with a hole.

Excellent, many thanks, that makes sense :)

I did not do a wrap and turn on the tail (I posted my pink kitty). I just knit the stitches turned and continued to knit. I did not end up with a hole.
