This is my first felting project. It is Fiber Trend's Maggie's Tote made with worsted weight Lambs Pride Wool. It was my first time with all of the color changes also. I'm using it to hold my WIP's.

Pretty bag! I love the colors you picked. I think felting is neat because it really blends the colors together.

Thanks everyone! It was a pretty easy pattern to follow, although weaving in all of the yarn ends seemed to take longer than the bag itself.

Thanks again! :D

VERY cute, Lisa! What are your finished dimensions? I have that pattern and am considering it for a knitting bag....Im just not sure yet.

I think it looks great! I hate weaving in the ends but only because I'm afraid it's all going to unravel on me!

Kelly~I'll check the dimensions when I get home, I'm at work now and I don't have the bag with me. The straps didn't shrink in length as much I would have liked. I wanted them a little shorter.

Ronda~I was afraid too that some would come undone in the washer, but they all just disappeared without a problem when it felted!

Kelly~I made the smaller size of the pattern using worsted weight yarn and size 10 1/2 needles. The sides angle down, so across the top is 19 in., and across the bottom is 15 in. The bag is 9-1/2 in high. Someone at the LYS made the larger size and it was pretty big. She had it stuffed with alot of yarn!

Hope this helps!

It's absolutely gorgeous, Lisa! I love the colors! And the size is perfect! Must have been pretty big before felting it.

If I'm going to felt something I tie knots, weave in through 3 or 4 stitches and then felt it. When I'm done felting I just snip off any ends that happen to poke out. I've never had any problems with something felting unraveling!

Thanks again everyone for the nice comments! I really liked the felting so I want to try one of the booga bags and a Fiber Trends hat I have a pattern for.

Nana~I wish I could give it to you, but it is already holding all of my WIPs. :D

What a great bag! I have a question for you - do you do the yarn single strand or double stranded? I am thinking about getting that pattern - have some WOTA I was going to use - but think it may need to be double stranded.

The pattern is Fiber Trend's Maggies Tote. The pattern has directions for 2 size totes. The smaller one is made using a worsted weight yarn and the larger with a chunky weight yarn. I made the smaller size and used a single strand of Brown Sheep (I think that's the brand) Lamb's Pride Wool yarn. I have never used the WOTA yarn before, this was my first felting project, but if it's worsted weight, one strand should be fine. The finished tote feels pretty thick to me although I don't have anything else to compare it too. The handles didn't shrink down in length as much as I would have liked, I wanted them a little shorter. They also twisted a little when it was felting, so I just had to keep straigtening them out each time I checked them. The bag itself knitted up fairly quickly.
If you have any more questions, let me know. Glad you liked it! :D

I don't think WOTA is the same gauge - the lambs pride is thickerer....maybe I will do the larger size, using the double stranded WOTA ----that should work! Oh yeah! I can FEEL a tote for my mom coming on!

Is this a free pattern? I'd love to have the pattern--I've gotten the "felting bug".
