Weee.....! I got a new digi-cam for my birthday (requested for the express purpose of posting things on KH--nerd alert!), so now I can join the picture party!

So here are bunch of things I'm doing at the moment....and a lot are various firsts.

So I made Lopi Tote (http://www.helloyarn.com/lopitote.htm) out of Cascade 220 for the turqoise and the pink is from a hank of Chilaean stuff I just thought was purdy when I first started knitting...I had no idea what I would use it for. It felted great, but I still need to shave it cuz I don't like all the fuzzies. I think I'm also gonna try needle felting a "K" on it.

This project is my first attempt at felting, bag making, and color changing. Wee![/url]

Ok...and then I have the start on my mom's afghan (http://www.canadianliving.com/CanadianLiving/client/en/Crafts/DetailNews.asp?idNews=2375&idSM=307)
which is my first attempt at cables and something big. And it's in Paton's Merino wool.

I started my first ever sock too from Silver's sock class in some cheapo Red Heart...and I'm putting together a lapthrow type thing for my cousin because I fell in love with this Tigresse yarn at my LYS.

I also made a welcome mat to wipe dirty shoes on because I wanted to try knitting with a double strand.

Ok! Hope it was okay to put all the pics in one post....

Wow, everything looks great! And, I can totally see why you fell in love with the Tigresse yarn -- it's gorgeous!

Those are all beautiful!! The Lopi Tote is on my To-Do List (did you use the Reynolds Lopi for the green? Is is really fuzzy? That's the only thing that I'm not too sure about...) Anyway, that afghan is absolutely beautiful :inlove: I just printed out the pattern and it's going into the To-Do List, too! Thanks for sharing!

The only reason I got a digital camera was for this site, too! ;)

Everything looks great! :cheering:

Thanks everyone!

Josie, I did the Lopi Tote with Cascade 220....So I guess it's a Cascade Tote not a Lopi Tote~ ;) It's on the fuzzy side, but I'm going to get a disposable razor and shave it...and then I think it'll be perfect. You should try it, it was really really easy and knit up so fast. I was suprised how quickly I did it!

Thanks for the info, HamLee -- I'm definitely going to do that Lopi Tote -- I was showing some patterns to my sister and she thought it was really stylish -- and since she thinks that only old ladies knit and that the only thing that they knit is baby blankets or unattractive sweaters, I'd love to make something for her that she thinks is stylish! I could have a convert on my hands!! ;)

It is a pretty cute little bag. I was actually hesitant to knit/felt a bag because I wasn't sure they'd ever look cute in person or be functional, or keep its shape. This seems to do all those things...I might want to add a little snap or button to keep it closed though. I'm going to give it to my 14 year old cousin for her birthday...she like cute little bags.

See my post about my Kitty Hairball purse

The Lopi is very very very fuzzy.

kitkat, thanks that's good to know about the Lopi re: fuzziness. My LYS doesn't stock it that I've seen, so I used Cascade 220 instead as mentioned above (well under one skein by the way, I forgot to mention that). The turquoise color is the Cascade and as I look closer...it's really not very fuzzy at all. So it seems it might be a good felter's yarn. All the fuzziness is coming from my pink yarn, which was a random loosly spun ball of Chilaean alpaca. I'm gonna take a razor to at the least the pink stripes and then I think it'll be good....though one of my cousins though the fuzziness was a cool feature. To each her I guess!

Looks like someones been busy ;)

All the stuff looks great!!

ooooo, I  the felted bag. Is it just a long one row buttonhole for the handle? Very chic!

01-30-2006, 08:54 PM
Yep! It was so easy. The handles are just "cast off 20 stitches" this row...."cast on 20 stitches" next row and they totally take care of themselves

Were I to do this again (and i'm thinking I might) I'd probably make the handles a little smaller. They're a tad droopy.

Here she is blocked though and dry (still not shaved):

Love that afghan. It's going to look fabulous! I've been afraid to try felting. I'm sure I'll start with a shopping bag and end up with a coin purse.
