View Full Version : OT - Southern California Get Together?

02-01-2006, 12:14 PM
Okay, I am jealous at all the meet-ups going on and am wondering if anyone else would like to try and do one for Southern California? I live in the Palm Springs area and would be happy to play hostess. I have a lovely living room for knitting! (Oh and did I mention the pool is just across the street and swimming weather is year round?).

Any takers?

I'm game. :) I've never been to a knitting get-together before, though I've been to plenty of cross-stitch ones. I'm probably an hour or so west of you.

I live in South Orange County so it's pretty far, but it's not impossible. I don't drive that far myself, but my DH has a sister in PS. Let us know when you want to plan it and I'll see what we can arrange. I've been wanting to go to the outlet mall in Cabazon anyway so maybe we can combine the trip. ;)

Very cool. Should we talk dates? I was thinking late February to give us all enough time to make plans.

I think for me it would better a little further off...maybe in March. We just got back from our vacation and my DH is driving all the way to Tucson and back this next weekend. He might not be up for the drive so soon. LOL It might give more people time to see this thread if you hold off a bit, too. I know there are several other people in southern CA.

Whatever you decide and is best for you though since you are hosting it is what you should do. If I can't make it this time we can always try again.

Actually, I think March would be FABulous! Let's play it by ear for a few weeks and see what kind of interest we get, no?

Hey, I don't know how I missed this thread! (Thanks Jan) I was just in Palm Desert a couple of weeks ago, but always am game to go back. Sometime in March would be great.

THanks, Jan, for sending this post to me! I live about 1.5 hrs from the desert and might be able to make it too depending on the day!

Okay, so should we start talking about a date??? Late March? The 25th or 26th?

:inlove: I would love to come. I live in Ojai and love Palm Springs. My friend and I are taking a 3 week class starting 2/28 to improve our skills. She may be talkied into joining me. End of March sounds great as I have alot going on right now.

Cool! Even a new member to join us!

I think those dates would work, but let me check with DH.

Yay!!!! More So Cal peeps! I was beginning to think I would have to go to Illinois to meet anyone from KH. ;) I think those dates look good for me.

Okay, time to get serious about this get together. I will suggest a date and you all can let me know what you think....

April 9th or April 23rd?

I'll check with DH and get back to you.

I wouldn't be able to make either date. I'll be in Las Vegas on the 9th and I'm camping with my daughter's girl scout troop on the 23rd.

I'm not getting an overwhelming response to my get together idea for SOCAL. :crying: Maybe we'll wait and try again later?

Problem is there isn't a lot of us and we are very spread out. Since you were going to host it it's up to you if you'd like to wait awhile and try again. Let me know.

I'm in Torrance(Close to Long Beach, Palos Verdes, Redondo Beach). If anyone's wanting to meet close to me i'm game. But San Diego's too far for me to go.

I'm still interested in a get-together, to be sure. :) I took a peek at the KnittingHelp Frappr page (http://www.frappr.com/knittinghelp) again and Jan's right, we're pretty spread out.
