I know that "yfwd" stands for yarn forward but how do I do it? I just don't know what it means and can't find my book! Here it is in the pattern:

PATTERN STITCH:
Row 1: K2, *K2tog, Yfwd*, rep from * to * to last 2 sts, K2.
Row 2: P2, *P2tog, Yron*, rep from * to * to last 2 sts, P2.
Repeat these 2 rows for pattern.

And this part is a mystery also:

yron, yarn on needle (when last st is a purl, wrap yarn around needle to make an extra loop leaving yarn at front).

Thanks for any explanation or help! I know I'm asking alot and would be thrilled if I just understand the yarn forward for now! :)
