I'm knitting my second pair of socks ever, Knitty's Broadripple Socks.

The pattern states:

-Slip N2 stitches onto N1 -- 28 sts. Slip N4 stitches onto N3 -- 28 sts.
-With RS facing, work back and forth as follows:
-Row 1: *Sl 1, k1. Repeat from * to end.

I slipped my stitches on to the correct needles, but am confused as to how i'm supposed to Sl 1, k1 with the right side facing. See the photo:

Here my right side is facing, but my working yarn is on the BACk needle. Do I slip the far right stitch on the front needle with a third needle, then knit the second stitch with the yarn still attached to the back needle?

I'm totally stumped! Turing the work to the "other" right side leaves me with working yarn on the left side of my knitting, as if I should be purling. I asked the man who wrote the pattern and he said, "looks like your sock is in good shape...just work around that bend and go!"

I have no idea how to "work around that bend"
