I am working flat in stockinette stitch. I need to bind of the first 3 stitches on every row. Binding off on the knit rows in not a problem. When I turn the piece to bind off on purl rows, it looks horrible. Some of that might just be due to lack of experience, but it looks like I am creating a "twisted knot" on the first bound off stitch of these purl rows. Any idea what I am doing wrong?

When you bind off on the purl rows, purl the stitches that you are binding off, but when you bring the stitch over and off the needle, keep your yarn in back, then bring it forward to purl the next stitch. I'm not sure it this will solve your problem, but it's worth a shot.

Thanks! I'll try this tonight after I frog the mess I made last night. Am I correct in assuming that I should not see a visible difference between bound off knit stitches and purl stitches?

I just watched the video on the sloped bind off and think I'll try this. I am making the lower portion of "grace" from knitty. It is a a triangular piece. I think the sloped bind off might make it look better.
