8 years old at the time the Iran hostage crisis began

Since all of the references were American, this is the first one I remember. I can't remember what the first "big TV deal" I ever saw was... my life basically revolved around the 2 channels we got on TV {CTV and CBC}... if Mr. Magoo or Pink Panther wasn't on, I could care less! I *do* remember Reagan getting shot though, but that was after the Iran hostage crisis.

1 year 0 months younger than Jennifer Lopez,
I may be younger, but I'm not tellin' whose butt's bigger! :roflhard:

Not sure I want to admit this:

8 years old at the end of the Korean War

I don't remember anything about the Korean War...didn't pay much attention to the news. This was just about the time we got our first T.V. which had a tiny screen and only black and white pictures. However, the programming was MUCH better and was FREE. Seems we pay more and more for less and less desirable programming.

I think we are about 9 mos apart so that make sense. ;) Age doesn't really bother me, it's the alternative that bothers me. I'm not ready for that yet.

My family will never, ever forget this one. We planned a week ahead and took our daughters out of school to take them to Natural History Museums in LA and the IMAX Theater to see "The Dream is Alive (http://www.imax.com/ImaxWeb/filmDetail.do?type=notPlaying&movieID=code__.__22856)" which is about the space shuttle. DH came home in the morning as we were getting ready and asked us if we'd turned on the TV...and the whole thing was about the Challenger. We talked about it and decided to go anyway. Fortunately the kids were young and resilient, but my daughter no longer wanted to be an astronaut.

I remember that one vividly, too, of course. I was waiting for the kindergarten bus to pick up my daughter and then I was off to get a haircut. When I told the girls in the shop what I had just heard on the news, they didn't really seem to care and just kept the hard-rock radio station on. I didn't go there anymore because I was so disgusted.

It is so sad when something like that happens and people are all "whatever". With the Challenger I remember it being a big thing that a teacher was going into space so there were posters all over the place. I heard about it at school the teacher who tolds us what happened was crying, I think that is why it is so vivid in my memory. Not many teachers cry in front of their students. Anyway... :D
