View Full Version : First sweater grumbles

I am going to bitch about my first sweater. I am making the McKee sweater from Noro, out of Noro Kureyon. It will be lovely if it ever gets finished.

Is the pattern hard? No, its easy. It was picked with ease in mind, was part of a knitting class, and I was assisted in selecting. Am I having problems with the pattern, no, any problems I have had are easy and were quickly solved either here or LYS. Has the dog attacked this particular piece of knitting? Nope.

Its just so fricking slow! After I finished my bag for my mom, I have focused on finishing it. HOnestly, no other projects OTN even though I am dying to start some quick gratification project. I have resigned myself to the fact that this sweater will not be done in time for this year, and am ok with that, its a classic pullover turtleneck.

The problem is, I am doing it on size 7 needles.....I have the sleeves about 1 inch to where I start doing the final decreases...I have both the front and the back up to the very row where I have to decrease.....I mean honestly there is light at the end of the tunnel, because hopefully once I do those decreases, it will go faster, but I am a CPA and my life sucks right now and I am getting in an hour tops knitting time a day, and I can't really start it past 10 PM because then I need to go to bed so I can go to work in the morning. I hate this time of year, I truly do! Even though I am "part time", this time of year I end up working 50-60 hours a week and its seriously cutting into my knitting time!

Poor poor pitiful me! I am grateful I have a job and all but shesh!

End of rant - must go do some things around the house so I can get some knitting time in later!

Arg! I feel your pain, it is so frustrating to know that the end is in sight but to have no idea when you'll get to it.

I can't imagine what a rough time of year it is for you, kitkat - good luck! Less than a month to go!

I too feel your pain. I'm still working on my hoody from last year!!!

Sweaters do have a lot of knitting in them. I don't think we realized just how many stitches a sleeve contains. Hang in there--it always amazes me that I've actually finished a sweater.

Hang in there, it will all be worth it soon! I'm on my 3rd sweater and so far it's my favorite, even though it has been by far the most complicated project I have ever done.

I know what you mean about it being slow though... I actually made a dishcloth (my first) last night because I needed something that would be quick. Instant gratification, ya know? :roflhard:
