I've been training for a marathon the past few months. This Saturday, I ran the Kentucky Derby Festival Marathon. It was a blast! It was my first marathon, and I came in at 4:26:27, beating my goal of 4 1/2 hours by a few minutes!!!

I was pretty sore Sunday and yesterday, but I barely feel anything now. I'm surprised. I totally expected to be laid up for a few days.

This is my friend, Shera, and me (on the right) at the finish line sporting our medals. Shera's from the big K-Y.

And here I am later that night at "Night at the Races" at the local church. This was hilarious - a bunch of grown people riding wooden horses and betting on them. Too funny. I won the 4th race. Go me!!

Congratulations (on both the marathon and the horse race, lol)! My daughter-in-law does marathons, so I know how much training it takes. Good job! :happydance:

Kaye, OMGawd, those hills are killer...especially right at the start. Holy smokes.

My favorite (NOT) part of the run was the 2nd St bridge - we went over it twice. I swear it magically got longer coming back into KY. Sheesh. Oh, and nothing is more fun than having to step over steel joints on a wet, slippery bridge. fun, fun.

Enjoy Derby! I was pretty bummed that we couldn't stay to see the races.

:cheering: Congrats thats awesome!!!

My dh just got into running last year again after years off since H.S. he ran in the Dayton 1/2 Marathon last year.. using the Race for the Cure for practice so he can run the Dayton one again this year hopefully if an air show doesn't interrupt his schedule.. from him I know how much time and hard work it takes and think ya deserve a big ol' pat on the back lol I couldn't do it!!! :cheering:

Outstanding!! That is so cool. I ran a half marathon a year ago or hmm two years ago lol. I think that was unfortunately my max distance. But way to go a marathon is just smokin! Too cool!
