got this hat pattern that says using a 16" circular size 8 needle, but I don't have any 16", and I just got my lovely Denise Interchagable from kemp's shop. Can I use the 17" Denise instead? I just got it off the instruction that the shortest circular I can make is 17".

Any ideas? :??

You can probably get a way with it. Cast on the stitches, and if you can join them easily, you'll be fine.

I agree with Ingrid, you can probably get away with a 1" difference. But it seems to me that you can make a shorter needle with the Denise's... I seem to recall using the second shortest cord as a circ for *something*. It wasn't the easiest, but workable, about 14" or so with tips included. I'm glad that the cords *do* get even more flexible as I've worked with them though.

I'm a little frustrated with that 17in in my Denises. It CAN work as long as you have quite a few stitches.. adult hat works best. I found that with kid hats and smaller adult ones the stitches just pull to much for my liking. Do try though!
