see the problem is, I can't pull it all out to take a pic b/c dh doesn't exactly know that I bought that much...(I keep it in the trunk and bring it in a skein or two at a time when I can sneak it to the stash! TO him, the stash runneth over and he doesn't notice an extra skein or two there...but boy does he recognize the bag from the LYS)...

I paid tooooooo much.....I also bought a needle size/gauge indicator thingy too and after all of that, I spent about $150.00 in the end...The addi's really run the tab up though!

I'll try to take a pic later and post it....(after dh is in bed!! LOL)

lmao when I was engaged several years ago, and living with my fiance I used to do this with shoes. I'd keep new ones at work and wear them in around the office. Then I'd wear them home when I thought they looked used enough to not look brand new. When he'd ask it would be "nah I've had these a while I just rarely wear them, and thought it was time I did."

He was very much a 3 suits, 5 shirts, 1 pair of jeans, 2 t-shirts, work shoes and trainers kind of guy. Everything else to him was excessive lol

Alas we really were not a match made in heaven since I'm like Imelda Marcos' twin sister =P My mother calls me a cross between Imelda Marcos and a bag lady because I adore bags so much
:roflhard:

Your yarn haul sounds fabulous - can't wait to see the sneaked in photos =D

LOL.... you guys crack me up. I knew I was purchasing a size other than what I wanted but I thought the shorter size would work....it won't. It's actually a bummer b/c I have to go to TWO LYSs b/c the first one doesn't have the length I need. I need to return the ones I bought and purchase them at a different store.

actually I may go to three or just try a new one...I just noticed online that a shop I've been wanting to visit has moved to the same area as the one I have to return the needles at....

Or you can just keep the wrong size until you are on a project that uses the size then it makes it a right size.

Cristy
06-03-2006, 07:31 AM
good thought--unfortuantley I already have this length......sometimes, when I find a pattern at a store and it calls for circs, I can't remember what sizes/lengths I have and don't have. I need to reorganize my needles by length and then make a list to carry with me!

I absolutely LOVE the natural color yarn you bought. That would be nice for a sweater for dh if only he weren't so hot blooded. He's the only man I know that shovels 3 feet of snow in shorts & a t-shirt. Maybe I'll make a sweater for me instead. :cheering:

I love that natural yarn too (the blue Sky organic Cotton)...matter of fact, when I went back today, I bought 4 more! I'm using it for a baby cardigan. I also purchased a pattern and a set of clover needles b/c they had this deal that I just couldn't pass up...! I visited a new store too and din't find it to be all that wonderful (actually it's an old store that has moved to a new location) but they had an awesome sale table and I got 12 skeins of Debbie Bliss Merino Chunky for $50.40!!! :inlove: :inlove: So I guess I'll visit just to frequent the sale table...the only bummer was that the first shop has a no returns policy on needles so I just had to buy more!! LOL!! I also purchased 3 skeins of some random yellow baby yarn on a whim...

Too, too bad you bought the "wrong" length needles, there Cristy Baby!! :roflhard: Just an HONEST mistake!

Cristy

LOL...I know...the whole thing with the needles really broke my heart....I didn't really need the Debbie Bliss but how could I pass up such a deal? It looked like she was cleaning out "wintery" yarn thay maybe she only had a few skeins left...anyway, there was some Rowan (I think) felted tweed that I almost couldn't pass up--there were 10 skeins...it was an odd orange color but I was envisioning it as a sweater for myself....anyway...it was a good trip. I didn't even bother hiding the bag...now it's the credit card statement I need to hide!!

Cristy-what yarn stores do you go to - more specifically, which one has the debbie bliss on sale??
I'm in NW Atl and tend to frequent Nease's Needlwork in Decatur & Strings & Strands in Buckhead. I did hear of a new LYS that will be opening in Virginia Highland but can't figure out where.
Would love to hear where you are getting the good deals!!

I like Why Knot Knit in Buckhead but the Debbie Bliss was at Strings and Strands--they just moved mid week to a new location off of Roswell Rd. just inside of the Sandy Springs city limit. It's an odd location if you ask me but I heard someone say it's more spacious than the old one...hard to imagine b/c this place isn't big!!! If you know where the old location was on Wieuca/Roswell, turn right out of that little shopping center onto Roswell and go down just past Mt. Paran and it'll be on your right...it's in a weird office looking building just past Bellini's children's furniture. I like Needle Nook too--I order needles from them a lot b/c they seem to always have the right size/length in stock and they'll ship them to me for next to nothing and I have them next day.
btw--if you go to SAS...the Debbie Bliss was mixed w/ lots of other stuff on a "sale" table they had just outside of the new shop on the sidewalk.

Knick Knacks has this really nice set of laminated cards... they have lots of info on them.. and one has a place to organize what needles you have... just check them and update as you get more.. easy to cary with you.. but then again.. you wouldn't have an excuse to go back to the lys.. yeah right.. as if we can't always find an excuse...

Cristy-
THANKS!! It's been a while since I had been into Strings & Strands- I had no idea that they were moving. The "old" store was kind of small but that's what made it charming. I'll definitely be checking out the new location. Haven't been into Needle Nook (yet) I'm a creature of habit and end up going into the same 2 or 3 stores just cause it's easy!
Why Knot Knit has a Friday pm get together for knitting. It's on my radar to check out soon.
