After much consideration, I went to Best Buy in a horrid thunderstorm to get World of Warcraft. I quickly ate my lunch and set about installing it... That was over 3 hours ago. I've had such horrid problems installing that I'm afraid what gameplay will be like... :crying:

Anyone else that plays had problems with just installing the darn thing?? It keeps getting hung up when it asks me to change cds. I'm in the process of running the install off my hd now. I had to copy all the install files from each of the 5 cds. My hd is going to run out of room!

Anyway, thanks for letting me vent. I thought the game would be a distraction since I'm worried about my dog having yet another knee surgery tomorrow, but it's only caused frustration! LOL

Well, I got the game installed, but now I'm waiting for a patch (454MB) to download and install. 6 hours now... This game better be good. ;)

I've never played it. But I do play Everquest 2 and Star Wars Galaxies (not so much anymore though). I've heard different things about WoW. We (my guild Sunder) has a portal in WoW and I know they have LOTS of members and they raid alot. I hope you enjoy it hun!

I play! So do Cate and Mintdee (Sandra). It is fantastic fun! And very addictive... :shifty:

Loading those patches is a PITA--sometimes they take forever. Fortunately, they don't do the patch thing often, at least not the big ones.

If you want to hook up to learn the game, just let me know! :happydance: I don't always have a lot of time to play during term, but this particular week is pretty open for me.

I'm on the market for a new MMOG... I'd really like to find one to settle down with, but none have really grabbed me for a while. Let us know how you like it! :D

I was rather addicted to WoW - I quit in March and took knitting back up after a 20 year absence. I had been in the closed beta testing of WoW for around 6 months prior to the game being released.

I loved it - it was a LOT of fun. I was a fairly powerish player - I had lots of alts all in high levels too, but I wanted to see the high end content. I had two issues with this - one my time difference (I am in the UK) and two the gap between those who raided and those who didn't in terms of equipment etc was just too vast. That sucked quite a lof of the fun out of it for me.

I loved it back in Beta when they did listen to suggestions, but I feel that they have a master plan (a vision a la SoE with Everquest 1) which they will never veer from. It is also now run mostly by people like Tigole who were all strong EQ raiders so much of the content coming up is for PvE instead of for PvP. I feel they have concentrated on high end content too much recently, and left casual players behind somewhat.

Anyway thats just my opinion. I would consider reactivating if they ever do put in character transfers.

The two coming up are Warhammer (made by Mythic but they have just been bought by EA) and Vanguard. I'd really like something new on the market to be out now :P Then again if it were I'd not be knitting!

I don't really play for the shtuff. I just like wandering about, doing quests, gathering whatevers, and just exploring. The atmosphere of the game is really cool, and that's why I like it. I'm not into the raiding at all. The instances are fun, but you need a group for those. Usually I'm only playing with one other person (and typically that's the dh).

My husband and I were in the Vanguard beta. At the point we were playing, it just wasn't my cup o' tea. Too bad, too... I had a lot of hope for it. Maybe enough things have changed that it would be worth another look.

Warhammer sounds promising. I liked what they did with DAoC well enough. :)

I also had a lot of problems installing WoW off all those CDs, and my PC is no slouch. Took me a couple of hours, as well, and then to add the patches! Ugh. Doesn't seem like Blizzard updates their CDs with the latest version of the game (or the latest version when the CDs were made) if you are downloading almost 500mb in patches.

Last summer, I lucked out and bought a PC magazine with WoW on a dvd, that install went much easier without the disk changing, but still took a while. I play WoW a month at a time every now and then, but it always fails to hook me, so I quit. The installation is such a pain I don't bother with uninstalling it between the times I play. Same story with Half Life 2, the game is such a pain to install I don't dare uninstall in case I ever feel like playing it sometime.

I play WoW, and have since closed beta. We went to Fry's the night before release and stood in line for 6 hours to buy our copies. My husband got a regular edition game (4 cd's), whereas I got the Collector's Edition (1 dvd and several collector's items), which I then had signed by almost all the developers. It was great fun.

As for the game itself, I would recommend it to anyone as I've made many friendships in the game. I was playing in a very hardcore raiding guild up until about 2 months ago when I started being really fatigued from my pregnancy. I still play, but on another server with my husband. I recently got my brother back into the game. ^_^

All in all, it's worth it. And if you want to download patches fast, get a Fileplanet account (www.fileplanet.com). I have one and on patch day I downloaded the patch in 15 minutes.

I just started playing WoW last month (Angelia made me!). I like it because it's pretty. :roflhard: Well, and I played EverCrack "back in the day," and I just really for some reason love to level. I like playing with other people better than by myself (but I do not like playing with random guys who message me with "ur hot wanna group lol?"), so let me know if you ever want to play. :cheering:

Don't get me wrong, I think WoW is great - It is incredibly pretty, some parts of it have incredible graphics and the quests are a lot of fun, levelling is a lot of fun too. I would say if you do it once in a while and go slowly it would be a lot of fun. For me though I raced through had several level 60' and alts of various levels too and when you get to that end there isn't a whole lot to do =(

I had a LOT of fun playing it and made some fabulous friends :) I'd do it all over again in a heartbeat too :)

Hi guys!

Ok, I played a little last night and a few hours today. It is a lot of fun! I'm still getting the hang of all the controls and things, but as soon as I do, I'll let you guys know and we can hook up.

What server are you guys on?

By the way, my doggie had surgery today and is currently zonked out. Poor little baby!!! It breaks my heart and I really hope this 3rd surgery is the last for a looooooooooong time. :D

We're on the Thorium Brotherhood, though I have serious latency problems on that server and get weird lag as a result. I hope they're fixing that soon.

Poor doggy--I also hope this is his last surgery!

I'm on Aerie Peak and so far it's been good. I had to wait for about a minute last evening as the server was full, but a whole bunch of their servers (realms?) were down for an emergency update so I think everyone was just trying to get on the other servers that worked.

I picked a Tauren Druid girl. Her name is Cernuna (after Cernunnos, a Celtic horned god because the Tauren remind me of cows. LOL)

I guess I have to pick her professions now... I know I want herbalism and I think first aid. I want her to be a healer. :)

Healers are good...I'm always on the opposite end of that spectrum, though. I want to kick butt.

First aid is a freebie, so you can pick another one. Go with herbalism and alchemy--you can make all sorts of fantastic potions with the herbs you gather!

I love the Tauren! Make sure you dance. The dance is hilarious (electric slide!).

No no, Ang! Electriiiiiiic sliiiiiiiiiiiide! :roflhard: Nothing beats the gnome girl /train, though. My friend Nate says the noise the gnome girls make when they get hit make him want to hug them. :rofling:

Aerie Peak was down for maintenance (beyond the normal weekly maintence) and I really really wanted to play so I started a Night Elf named EddieDean (anyone know where that name comes from???)

I love the Night Elves too!

I'm way more comfortable interacting with the other players now. haha! I like to run up to some stranger and say hi and/or wave. Cracks me up everytime, but I usually don't get any responses.

Hey, any of you WoW players, by any chance, skinners and on the Thorium Brotherhood server? :rofling: I need a Light Leather to make a dagger and do not want and can't afford a stack from the Auction House.

I only need one to make a dagger. I remembered Labatta started skinning, so I logged on as her to get one and mailed it. How long does the mail thing take?
Thanks, though. :D I'm on my way to level 18. :cheering:

Mail only takes about an hour, so you shouldn't have to wait long.
