Sandy, I am pretty sure that this makeup will be good for you. I have REALLY sensitive skin, and I *love* this makeup. I started using it about a year ago, and I have seen SUCH a change in my complexion. I hardly have ANY blemishes anymore, and on the offf occasion when i get one the foundation covers it RIGHT up. And qvc has a 30 day money back gaurantee, so you COULD try it, and if it irritates you you can send it back.

Cate, but it anyway, you can pay for it later!!!!!! You can probablly call up, order it, and then SEND them a check. It will take longer to get there, but then you can still get the great price NOW and pay in 2 days when you have the funds!

I have to add my two cents to this.
Bare Essentials is an AWESOME brand of make up. My mother, a QVC-aholic, bought this for me and my brother's girlfriend several years ago. Neither of us uses anything else!

I find it gives a very natural appearance, and it's very lightweight. I also have very sensitive skin (I can't even use regular soaps, etc) and never had a problem with it.

I wore it on my wedding day, and thought it looked great! It enhances what you already have, and you can blend colors to get a unique shade. If you want a "made up" looking make up, then try something cheap! OTherwise, this make up is for you.

Here's a link to some of my wedding pics:

I think B.E. is on QVC RIGHT NOW here's the website (http://www.qvc.com/index.html?tmp=mh&cont=logo&cm_re=PAGE-_-MASTHEAD-_-LOGO) (click on "item on air" or "24 hour product review")

Here's a before and an after of me TODAY. notice in the before, right between my eyebrows, how it's blotchy, kind of dry and red... i have a few spots on my face.... can't see any of that in the after!!! It's hard to see the eye makeup because of my glasses, but it looks good i promise!

I would be happy if my face looked like your "before" photo!

My skin is so red, it's unbelievable. I have rosacea. I only wear makeup if I'm performing music at a concert or something. Otherwise, I'm clean.

When I do wear makeup, my face breaks out like crazy the next day. So, I can only do it occasionally. I have to wear THICK makeup to cover the redness.

I've tried everything...Almay, Elizabeth Arden for sensitive skin, Clinique, you name it - I've tried it.

Even my dermatologist's recommendations didn't work. I'm just a lost cause I guess.

Sandy!! You have to call and try it out! I think the today's special is sold out in your color, BUT there is a ONE TIME only!!! really, try it, you will LOVE it, and it will colver the redness. In the winter time I get SO dry and red.. my skin cracks and peels and bleeds on the right side of my nose and my right cheek, and between my brows... this make up covers it totally.

Very nice, Hilde!

When I first saw your post yesterday, I thought I missed the Today's Special Value. I'm glad I checked on QVC though. I got in on the deal! That was a steal! Thanks for posting this! I can't wait for mine to come. I have used BE once before and loved it but haven't reordered. I keep wasting money on other makeup that I end up not liking and just throwing it away.

Yeah I had drawers full of makeup, poders creams lotions, etc etc etc... I finally thought to myself "you know I porbablly have three times the amount of money that the B.E. costs sitting here in junky makeup I don't wear" So I wentahead and got it. two days later I threw out everything except for some lipglosses. I used to wander down the cosmetics aisle or in the cosmetics DEPARTMENT, and buy cheapy and expensize stuff that didn't work. Now I buy this, and ever though it's expensive,it'sso worth it. There's usually a B.E. today's special on qvc about twice a year, and I make sure I tune in!

I love qvc. Dh hates it :roflhard: I get the email notifications, so I know ahead of time what the special is going to be... and you can bet if it's birkenstock or B.E. I'm up at midnight ordering!!!

I wonder what the difference in Bare Esesntials and Bare Minerals is!! I've never tried either, but I ordered the B.E. Bisque--they said it was a good cover-up and a good finisher. I wish I could have ought ALL of it!!! :D

Sandy,

My mom has rosecea as well, and tried every make up out there to cover it up. Even the heaviest of heavy make ups didn't quite do it. But then she tried the Bare Essentials and viola! It's lightweight, didn't irritate her skin and she gets rid of the reddness with the make up. (I think there might be a picture of her on my link above, where she has B.E on)

What exactly has the dermatologist prescribed for you? Have you taken antibiotics or tried metrogel? There is even some medications out there just for roseacea, too. My mom found the metrogel extremely helpful, but has to use it every day.

BE is the brandname. Bare minerals is a product line of Bare essentials.
Does that make sense?
I am fairly certain the bisque is bare minerals.

I just bought this set at Sephora last month for 60.00, so this is a fantastic deal. I am NOT a make-up person, and even I can manage this stuff and look alot better than before. After a month of putting it on it takes me about 5 minutes now.

I need to get some more Mineral Veil, but my local Ulta is out of it :( Does the Bisque get used like a final powder a la Mineral Veil??

jamiejeans
06-29-2006, 09:23 PM
no, the bisque is for cover up and evening skin tone. Not anything like the mineral veil.

Hey, if anyone still wants to try B.E, and there isn't a store near you that carries it, it will be in QVC again in July... no today's special value this time, but still, there *might* be some new things, and there's always a possibilioty of a "one time only" if the T.S.V sells out :happydance:

Tune in to QVC for Bare Escentuals, Tuesday, July 18, 2006 from 5 - 7 a.m.,
and 9 - 11 p.m. ET, and Wednesday, July 19, 2006 from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. ET.

Hi Jamie...Sorry for the delay in responding. I was cut off from the thread notifications for some reason. (That seems to happen a lot in here.)

Anyway, I'm happy with the makeup I'm using, and I only wear it on Sundays or special occasions, so it's fine for now. It covers well.

As for prescriptions, yes I think I've tried them all. I used Metrogel (irritated my skin), then tried Metrocream (same problem), then Clindomycin (no better). Then, just decided to stay away from creams.

I also took antibiotics, but they really bothered my stomach. I started thinking about it, and said, "Do I want to continue having a stomach ache just so my face will look better? NAH!" So, I quit taking the pills too.

So now, I just live with what I have. I rarely wear makeup, and wash my face with Dove for Sensitive Skin (the only thing that works for me). I also use Dove Moisturizer for Sensitive Skin. I've tried the more expensive skincare before, but it really didn't work any better than the Dove, so I'm sticking with Dove.

I've seen 3 different dermatologists, and they always give me the acne talk. I just look at them and say, "Listen, it's not just acne. Besides, I'm allergic to benzoyl peroxide." (They usually quit writing their prescription when I say that. If they had read the form I filled out in my chart, they would have already known.)

I give up. I'm not wasting any more money on doctors, prescriptions or creams for my face. I'd rather just live with it and go on with my life.

Thanks Sandy for bumping this thread!!!!

MK, I didn't see your response till just now. My bad!!!! I hate to beat a dead horse, but I have sensitive skin and this makeup works WONDERS. Did you see all the red dry scaly patches in my "before" picture? (they don't show up well).... they are UNnoticable when I wear B.E. I know it is a LOT of money to spend on something just to try and see if it works.... Maybe you (an Sandy!!!) could find a store in your area, or in an area you visit, and schedule a consultation? They you could try it, have it applied by an expert, and see how it works. That way, you don't spend any money and you get a test drive of how it works for your skin.

mks22300

Uhm, bare escentuals???? ;-) I've been known to party a little too hard on Sunday nights, and none of my students were any wiser the next morning!!

I think the biggest thing with this makeup is learning how to apply it correctly. I looked like an idiot for the first week ... but you get the hang of it!

Hildie, o Goddess of Bare Escentuals, do you know anything about their RareMinerals Skin Revival Treatment? I have to say, I'm thoroughly confused by the concept of a powdery mineral thing you put on at night (plus the fact that it comes in four shades... for sleeping in? :?? ). Wouldn't it get all over your pillow? Does it somehow moisturize?

It's damn expensive, so I was just curious...

Celine

I bought Bare Escentuals thru their infomercial which I think is the BEST way to pay less for it. I liked it. Then over time I got a lot of the "extras" thru QVC.

After using it for two years I got bored with it and have gone back to a nice cream foundation. I gave it all to my daughter. The best thing about was that they last forever!!! You really only have to use a tiny bit of the eye shadows, blushes etc. Mine had expiration dates good only for one year. That did not go for very :crying: long. I wasn't happy with that part. There is NO way I could use up all of that in one year. So maybe they should make them in smaller amounts and charge LESS which would be nice.

I am blessed to have good skin and no matter what makeup I've worn over the years I've always gotten compliments on how nice my skin is. Must be good genes!!!

Karen, it's like a lotion in a little pump bottle... it has vitamins and crap in it. I got some of the skin revver upper when I bought my starter kit from Sephora. I used it twice, and then stuck with my Olay Regenerist Moisturizer. It's not bad at all, but I have sensitive, oily skin, and I live in fear that any change will break me out. I'm 26 and finally don't look like the floor of a mechanic's shop, so I am not going to start experimenting.

If anyone wants it, they can have it. I really will never use it.

Hi all!

As I promised... I have received word from my mother on the Rare Minerals. She has the "clear" version of the product, but says that she notices a luminous sheen when its applied. She said it does not rub off onto her pillow. And she has noticed her roseacea is less red in the morning. Other than that, she hasn't noticed much else. And my guess from the sound of her opinions is that she wouldn't buy it again.
