I made up my own pattern for this and I'm pretty pleased with how it came out. I was thinking as I was doing it that I probably should have made the tie different, but now that it's done I think it's okay.

Modeled by the lovely Cheer Bear!

Thank you! Yes, that is pretty much it. You also have to do a k2tog though or you'll be adding stitches. I can post what I know of the pattern later if you'd like.

BTW..that sig tag looks familiar..

Jan, how cute!

My three year old saw the picture and asked "Is that mine?" HA "I asked, do you mean the teddy bear?" She said "No Momma, the hat." Am I raising her right or what? Ha! I told her not to worry she will get a hat like that soon.

This is so perfect for the hats I wanted to make for her and her baby sister this winter. I wanted to do black hats with some color. And this will fit the bill. Black with a red tie. (Now I just need to make a sweater to match!) ha!

Thanks for the pattern Jan.

One question why do you increase to 80 stitches?

One question why do you increase to 80 stitches?

When doing a hat with ribbing I usually try to use a smaller needle than the one I use with the body because you want the ribbing a little snugger. I figured the same principle applied to the hat with the roll brim. I didn't want it to go straight down, but in a little. I noticed after I increased that the roll stopped so it seemed to be a little edge. I'm sure it would work fine w/o it though, too.

Glad you all like it!

It's adorable! In fact, I had to go make one immediately for my new niece.

I need help though! I can't get my bow to look near as nice as yours. If I tie it, it looks bulky. How did you do your bow?

Thanks!

This is an old post, but I finally completed the pattern and have it on my blog as a free PDF. It's been updated with a simpler method now.

No, I haven't. I still can't get into KPC. :pout: It's driving me crazy! I will ask her if she wants it. Thanks for the suggestion and I'm glad you like it. ;)

Thanks, Jan! I'm going to start on this today for a 4yo grandd. I had it bookmarked previously, but lost all my favorites a couple of months ago, and hadn't yet run across this one again to add it. I'm so happy you revived this thread, and are sharing your creativity with us. :cheering:

I think it would be too large, but you can work the pattern to any size as long as you use a multiple of 10. ;)

BTW..I did submit to KPC and she said she would put it on the site!
