View Full Version : Knitting World Cup FO & More Fair Isle

I finished my Knitting World Cup (http://yarn-monkey.blogspot.com/) project - the Easy VNeck Raglan from Glampyre (www.glampyre.com).

I dont' think I used the right yarn for this (Cascade 220); I think it would have been better in something bulkier, but it was my first adult size sweater knit in the round. Makes me want to knit a bunch more! :D

The 2nd photo is just a chunky winter hat I finished in a couple of days. I find that I'm just storing up hats and scarves now with no specific recipient in mind. I'm sure they'll come in handy for gifts.

Wow! Those turned out so fine! I would love to see them modeled now. That always makes it more fun in the forum, I think. We want to see your smiling face! :D

Thanks very much! (Welcome back Amber!)

I'm seriously considering frogging the sweater though (you can read about it here (http://www.livingmywhy.blogspot.com)).

As for the hat, I've already done 2 more since in different colors  I think I'm hooked!

(Welcome back Amber!)

Thanks Marce!

What pattern did you use for the hat?

What pattern did you use for the hat?

Actually, I just used this formula to figure out the # of CO sts

yarn guage per inch x finished circumference = CO sts, then made adjustments to make this # divisible by 4 (the number of dpns I was using). After a few inches I started decreasing with the *K8, k2tg* / knit one round even / *K7, K2tog* / knit one round even method.

For the Fair Isle pattern, I just "winged" it. I read that you shouldn't carry yarn in 2-color knitting over more than 3-5 sts in a pattern, so I just alternated colors every 1, 2, or 3 sts on the row (using one color in my left hand, and one in my right).

It's a fun way to learn FI, and I'm looking forward to being able to predict how stitches will look together so that I can make better patterns on purpose.
