Happy Birthday !!!! Love the cupcake !!! Do you have a pattern for it? That is awsome! My birthday is in a couple of weeks and I wanna make me one lol!!! Hubby has to go on a business trip over my birthday so it will just be me and Mickey at home. I know I won' make a cake for myself, but that cupcake would be perfect !!!

Happy Birthday! OMG, how cute is THAT? What's the yarn you used for the frosting? I've got a birthday coming up, too. Might have to knit myself one. (It's the only sugar I'll be allowed to have. pout.)

Thank you, Thank you, everyone !!!
The cupcake pattern is from "Oneskein" by Leigh Radford.
It was a quick knit on double points (I actually used my short 6" plastic clover circular for the ribbing part of the cake) And the frosting was really fast , I used 10-1/2 dpns. You end up with a perfect little hole in the top for the candle.
I did put a round cardboard circle and a small rock in the bottom ... without them it was very "tippy".
I used Pattons Classic Wool (russett) for the cake and the frosting is
Jo-Ann Sensations LOLO (lavender)
I got the LOLO really really cheap ...70% off clearance ... or something like that ... quite a while ago ... so I don't know if they make it any more.
The pattern suggests some of the following yarns for icing ...
Adriafil Frou Frou
Classic Elite La Gran Mohair
Classic Elite Bravo
But any combination to make fat and fluffy will work. In the book some of the frosting is "smooth" and they have added beads or other embelishments.
Again, thank you for all the Happy Birthday wishes and cup cake complements. I knew I had to post it here .... cuz my husband said it looked like a mushroom :)

LOL ! I totally know how it feels to have you hubby dis your knitting. Mine does it all the time. What is that suppose to be ? That doesn't look like the picture in the pattern. Why are you making that? What are you going to use that for? Wouldn't it look better if you made it like this? Hubbies can be so cruel. I think it totally looks like a cupcake !!! Good Job !!!
