Here is the process of mercerizing. (http://www.answers.com/topic/mercerized-cotton) Unmercerized, is cotton that is not treated.

I make night caps for cancer patients using blue sky alpacas organic cotton (http://www.blueskyalpacas.com/yarn_detail.php?yarns_ID=7). It was sooooooo soft. My DH tried one on and put in a request. Then my DS started taking Daddy's so I made him one. If my son can't find his, he still takes his Daddy's. My DH told me this winter I should make an extra. :teehee:
