I am knitting these http://www.zenknit.com/mitts.html and am stuck on the thumb part. It says "Knit 1 stitch, then cast off the rest of the thumb stitches, knit the rest of the round. You should have 36 stitches, just be sure you have an even numbers" Well I think I have followed the pattern correctly but now I have my working yarn smack dab in the middle of my thumb stitches. How do I proceed?

The actual thumb stitches have been cast off. I think your next instruction is to knit around, connecting the area above the thumb. So the yarn will be in the middle of where the thumb was, but you'll knit around and end up with the hand stitches. I hope that's somewhat clear. :??
